(2,428 posts)But dig:
]Picture five slick black kids standing on a dark night urban corner, street light, crosswalks, stoplights, the whole thing. Paying no attention to you. Heads together, fingers snapping, working hard, getting it right. Thats this.

(30,063 posts)If there were one talent I could get bestowed upon me, it would be the ability to belt out a song like Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, of Mama Cass.

Blue
Songs are like tattoos
You know I've been to sea before
Crown and anchor me
Or let me sail away
Hey Blue, here is a song for you to
Ink on a pin
Underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in
Well there're so many sinking now
You've got to keep thinking
You can make it thru these waves
Acid, booze, and ass
Needles, guns, and
Lots of laughs
Lots of laughs
Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go
Well I don't think so
But I'm gonna take a look around it though
Blue I love you
I love you

(12,382 posts)A young lady came into a cafe when Jim and his friends were eating and talking. This young lady had a box of spoon rings (not mood rings) and she was trying to sell them. Jim ended up buying the entire box of rings and gave them away to other people. I can only assume this was a cigar box that contained the spoon rings.
Jim also was an untrained baritone that could reach multiple tenors that were impossible for a baritone. So if anyone ever gives you the argument that Jim Morrison "can't sing" they most likely just despise the man and are convinced that's he was a terrible person. You can tell them to fluff off, Debbie.
It's unfortunate that he needed a professional rehab facility for his substance abuse.

(9,193 posts)"Blue Sky" Allman Brothers. I saw them live in the early '80's and it was possibly the best concert I ever saw. As good as the album songs are they were a once in a lifetime experience when the band played live.
"I'm So Blue" Melanie. Music and lyrics by Melanie. The great Art Pepper on sax. Everybody thought she was just a guitar playing folk singer. She was so much, much more. The whole album "Photograph" is worth every moment of listening.
