(10,139 posts)Did you ever notice that in all the cartoons we loved as kids, ALL the main characters were male? There was Cindy (Yogi Bears girlfriend), Granny in the Tweety Bird cartoons, etc. Every female was a wife, girlfriend or mother of the main characters. Pisses me off to this day.

(2,768 posts)in 1969, but maybe Scooby and Shaggy were more prominent in the show than they were. I think you had to wait for until Josie and the Pussycats for truly female leads.
