(14,145 posts)I just have to make sure none are made with bleached enriched flour. If the ingredients don't say 'organic' or 'unbleached' it is chemically processed and hard to digest for me and better for everyone.
Good bagels are out there!

(14,145 posts)Chemical agents are used here to speed up the natural bleaching process used in much of the world. Because it also strips nutrients from the flour it is enriched, but with synthetic enrichment. Our bodies can't absorb those nutrients without the natural enzyme co-parts that are also destroyed. The result is that many people suffer problems with digestion they blame on gluten, which unless you are a celiac with a very real allergy or proven sensitivity, it is not the problem. We do this because it is cost-saving for industry--not us.
No wonder colon cancer is on the rise, even in children.
