Adam Hayes is a lifelong golf-lover and for a decade has been the caddie for pro golfer Jon Rahm. So when Adam started building a four-bedroom house for his family outside Charlotte, N.C., it made sense to put a golf-simulator on the property. I always thought it would be really cool to have one for our kids and for their friends, Adam said.
Now the 100-acre estate, which has a $75,000 Full Swing golf-and-sports simulator, is listing for $13.995 million. If it sells at that price, it will beat the areas $12 million record, which was set in 2025, said listing agent Ben Bowen of Premier Sothebys International Realty.

(4,472 posts)... that being a caddie was so lucrative? I'm in the wrong business!

(16,764 posts)They usually get 10% of winnings. John Rahm is no slouch.

(4,472 posts)... but I do know that a good caddie has an intimate knowledge of the course terrain, and their advice is valuable to a golfer.

(76,979 posts)The top flight players pay the caddy a year round sum, with bonuses for top 10, top 5 or a winning finish.
But, the salary includes the off-course shares too, as the endorsements only come with big success.
More likely the caddies get 3 to 5% of the player's total golf income, but they make a lucrative minimum yearly amount that is guaranteed.
The 10% thing is the old way, for the star player, though it still exists among the mid and lower level competitors.
The caddies take the same risk of a lean year as the player's.
Obviously, guys who only make $20k 25 times a year can't guarantee a caddy $600k!
But, if a caddies working for a big name gets 5% of $40 million, the caddy has a pretty good job!
