(2,264 posts)Many years ago, when I was starting out as an elementary school teacher, we had to do the dreaded lunchroom duty. There was a strict no talking policy to expedite the time children spent having lunch. One little boy, with big eyes, held up his hand and said "Miss H-------, are you a princess?" I smiled and said "Yes, yes I am". I'll never forget the looks on the children's faces.

(1,439 posts)I had been stationed in South Korea for about three months and being the SNCO of the section, I streamlined how we supported everyone. I had to brief a new independent duty medical technician (IDMT) from across base on how we would support him and the procedures/paperwork to request medical supplies. He was accompanied by IDMT he was replacing and after the briefing, the old IDMT said he wished I had arrived about six months ago because the only reason he didn't request an extension to his assignment was because of how hard it was for him to get support from us.
