WikiLeaks cable exposed NATO war plan against Russia in 2010

I don't recall seeing this posted back in 2010, nor last month during the "Crimean Crises"..

Perhaps I missed it? This exposes plans to reset the Cold War with Russia several years ago. Absolutely Insane and should have been given world wide attention.. did I miss that too at the time?

WikiLeaks cable exposes NATO war plan against Russia

By Bill Van Auken
9 December 2010

US State Department cables released by WikiLeaks have unveiled secret NATO plans for a US-led war against Russia over the Baltic states.

The cables, first reported by the Guardian newspaper Tuesday and posted on the WikiLeaks site, underscore the growing geo-strategic tensions between the US and Russia even as the Obama administration has emphasized a “reset” in relations that was supposed to overcome the conflicts left over from the Bush administration.

The secret plans spell out preparations for a full-scale war with Russia that would see the immediate deployment of nine divisions of US, British, German and Polish troops in the event of any Russian incursion into the former Soviet Baltic republics.

The plans also specify German and Polish ports that would be used to receive naval assault units and US and British warships destined for battle with Russian forces.

Despite these details, there is no indication in the cables of the potentially catastrophic implications of such an armed clash between the world’s two largest nuclear powers.

....snip

Meanwhile, the Guardian quoted an unnamed official at the Russian foreign ministry as saying that the documents had provoked “a lot of questions and bewilderment.”

“Russia has repeatedly raised the question about the need to ensure that there is no military planning aimed against one another,” the source said.

The revelations have surfaced under conditions of mounting tensions between Washington and Moscow over the US Senate’s failure to ratify a new START treaty on nuclear arms reduction and differences over Washington’s drive to set up an anti-missile network in Europe.

As i recall, the Senate in 2010 in fact was a Democratic Party majority, correct? I don't remember what their excuse for failing to ratify a new START treaty on nuclear arms reduction?

So it doesn't appear that the plan 'worked', or was approved by those in actual power to make such decisions.

at this time it's been reported that troops have been deployed. the "plan" has been in play, and is in play for much longer than these past few months.

US Troops Head To Poland, Baltics To 'Reassure' Allies

Washington: The United States is deploying 600 troops to Poland and the Baltics to highlight its commitment to NATO allies amid tensions with Russia over Ukraine, officials said on Tuesday.

we also have more war ships in the Black Sea.. I suspect there's much more military operations gearing up not openly being reported on. it will likely be leaked in the press in drips and drabs spread out over time, probably in friday nights news dumps.

Mission Statement; Conflict with China, Russia - FPI’s mission statement says that the “United States remains the world’s indispensable nation,” and warns that “strategic overreach is not the problem and retrenchment is not the solution” to Washington’s current financial and strategic woes. It calls for “continued engagement—diplomatic, economic, and military—in the world and rejection of policies that would lead us down the path to isolationism.” The statement lists a number of threats to US security, including “rogue states,” “failed states,” “autocracies,” and “terrorism,” but focuses primarily on the “challenges” posed by “rising and resurgent powers,” of which only China and Russia are named. Kagan has argued that the 21st century will be dominated by an apocalyptic struggle between the forces of democracy, led by the US, and the forces of autocracy, led by China and Russia. He has called for the establishment of a League of Democracies to oppose China and Russia; the FPI statement stresses the need for “robust support for America’s democratic allies.” Apparently, confrontation with China and Russia will be the centerpiece of FPI’s foreign policy stance, a similar position to that taken by the Bush administration before the 9/11 attacks.

Catherina, you and others posted extensively on this background at the time.. she or others might have also included the wikileaks articles which I may have overlooked.

This morning's report of troops being deployed prompted a google search on Nato exposes' and this caught my attention. Yes, it can't be understated how much influence PNAC continues to have on geopolitical machinations and foreign policy decisions even under a Democratic Party administration.

This is so fucked up.
