Thirty-five years ago, working men on Teesside stood together to make a protest in a strike that is likely to stick in the minds of all of those involved and their families.

Were you on the picket lines?

On January 2, 1980 around 17,000 British Steel employees on Teesside took part in a national 13 week stoppage in a dispute over pay.

Teams of strikers picketed steel works around the area in support of a demand for a 20% pay increase - BSC bosses had offered 6%.
