Trump Union Protesters Deliver Letter to Icahn’s Office

Carl Icahn got a special delivery from Trump Taj Mahal union workers Monday: a hand-delivered letter to his Fifth Avenue offices demanding he reinstate their health insurance and other benefits. The workers stayed awhile.

More than three dozen protesters wearing red Unite Here shirts stood across the street from Icahn Enterprises IEP -0.30% for more than an hour, handing out leaflets and urging passersby not to invest with Mr. Icahn and later chanting, “We’ll be back.” A spokesman for Unite Here Local 54 said it is the group’s ninth public protest against Mr. Icahn and the second in front of his office.

Mr. Icahn himself didn’t come down to meet the workers, but according to Unite Here spokesman Ben Begleiter, one of his lawyers accepted the letter in the lobby of the building and said that “we’ll be in touch.”

The letter tells Mr. Icahn—who owns the Taj Mahal parent’s debt and is pumping more money into the company during its bankruptcy—that his “actions are not okay,” with 10 points including: “It is not okay that you stripped us of our health insurance,” “It is not okay that you have made it so that on average we make almost $12,000 less in pay and benefits,” and “It is not okay that you hide in your penthouse while you destroy people’s lives.”
