A 60-year-old northwest Missouri man, who was critically injured Wednesday when a tractor mower ran over him, was hurt while mowing an embankment, authorities say.
The man, who suffered multiple compound fractures and had a tourniquet applied to his lower left leg and possibly an upper arm, was taken by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
The medical helicopter picked up the injured man at the Tarkio High School football field. The man may have suffered his injuries at an elementary school near the high school, a Tarkio police spokeswoman said.
The accident occurred about 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of 13th and Pine Streets on the southwest edge of town, according to authorities.
