Working on books today

I ended up with books that belonged to my great-grandparents, grandparents and parents. Over the years, we bought other books, usually boxfuls. I'm looking for one book I bought a few years ago, which I must have put in a really safe spot, again. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've had to look for it. While I'm looking for that book, I brought an armload to the living room and I'm looking for values on the Internet. While I looked through the books for dates and other information, I also, gently, fanned the leaves in case there is anything tucked away. And there was!

In one book, I found a vintage printed church program from Ripon, Wisconsin. In another, I found a printed list of Points of Interest in my town. And in a 3rd, a few pages of a child's book featuring Hop o' My Thumb.

Now, I have to stop having fun and go back to searching for the book I want to find, which is The Star Conquerors by Ben Bova.

Happy Saturday!

This old house of mine is packed with them. Even during my years at sea, I have always picked up used books. Some I revisit from time to time, some I keep because they were my parents', and some I give to any willing taker. Every now and then I run across pressed flowers between the pages.

I've given many books away. Some of those, I hoped to get back, but oh well :/ I probably have a few books I meant to return :/

When I got the books from my grandmother's house, in the mid-70s, I just packed them off the shelves and brought them to my house. I had a chance to look through them in 1980, but it wasn't until 2014 or later that I realized I had my g-grandmother's christening book, maybe my gg-grandmother's, printed in Swedish. Then, during Covid, I realized that several of the Horatio Alger books I had once belonged to my grandfather.

I pressed flowers in a few books many years ago. Right now, have some old photos in a book, hoping to flatten them. lol

yellowed pharmacy label from my great grandfather's pharmacy, 20 miles away, and probably 75+ years old. It really surprised me since the place has been out of business for decades and I'd never seen anything from the pharmacy before. I offered to buy just the label, but they insisted I take it for free which was very nice of them.
