IDK what happened there. Well, this can make for a good discussion: How do you feel about posting your work online? Is it safe? What if some day you wake up and find your work being used to sell stuff for somebody else without your knowledge or permission?

Paid professor at a university as a teaching tool. But if you make a penny, absolutely not!!

There should be a law that if someone uses your image/intellectual property without your permission, then you can use theirs to promote any cause you wish.

Reciprocity.

The thing that happened here was some jerk (Carter) thought it was okay to steal this image and use it to sell his merchandise. What makes people like Carter think this is alright is that most artists don't have the money to go after those who steal their work. You can see this in Carter's smug and thuggish response of seeing the artist in small claims court.

I have a friend who wrote a song a few years back and one day he found it being used to sell gin in another country. He sent this a bill and is still waiting for any word, let alone payment from this corporation. It sucks when you work hard and put a lot of time and sweat over getting a piece to come out just right only to have someone else steal it away.

Politicians are famous for using songs in their campaigns without permission.
