darkness coming out of the window of a church into the outside sunlight, onto the grass outside the church at a yard sale.

It was like the reverse of a shaft of light coming out a church window at night.

Somehow I lost the painting when I was traveling after college. I would like to find a copy of this painting if the painting was not a one of a kind unknown original. It was kind of impressionist, and I cannot find it on the internet.

Does anyone know of this painting? If so, if you could tell me the name of it I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

off red like a clay tile roof, the church bluish silver gray, the darkness coming out of the window shadow black, the ground being like dry winter grass.

On edit: duh. I think they were pastels.

The church was angular but impressionist like, I think with a pitched roof and small steeple, and the darkness was coming from the right side of the church. The church was small, with few windows. The door of the church faced the right of the canvas as I viewed it.

The church was prominent in the scene, and the view was angled, such that you could see the side of the church where the window of darkness was, as well as part of the front of the church. I am not an artist, but this painting seemed to be very well done, and was powerful.

It was kind of like this, but starker, and without bright color, and the door faced the right of the canvas and not the left like in this one. Also the painting as I recall was more sharply defined than this one. Sorry, I'm probably mangling the terminology. lol.

until it looks like what you remember. And there are two artists I know of who could have a go at this. it wont ever be the exact thing you have in your mind, but it might be fun to see what they come up with. pm me if you think it would.
