Gold Canyon (Arizona) Arts Festival, 28 January 2012

I'll be participating in this event next Saturday, exhibiting and (I hope!) selling my jewelry and related crafts. Even though I'm far from a newbie at this business -- I did my first show in November 1975 -- I feel like a total klutz when it comes to displays, so I'm always looking for suggestions on how to improve my presentation. Any ideas????

This is one of the pieces I sold at last year's event

Gold Canyon is fairly new developement, started in the mid 1990s i believe. It's in unincorporated Pinal County, so it has no government or politicians to make the news.

I was at Michael's yesterday and saw quite a few ways offered to display jewelry....a fake neck/chest (don't know how else to describe it!), miniature coat hanger...weirdly shaped vases, etc. I think they've realized more people are selling jewelry and have started to sell things for that purpose.

Can you give us an idea of what your presentation is like now? What are you unsatisfied with about it?

is too flat. You know, black cloth covered tables, some display modules -- earring racks, low shelves, etc. -- to vary the horizontal, but still a lot of empty airspace. With jewelry, it's difficult to make things vertical, and because I have to do virtually all of my loading, unloading, set-up, and take-down by myself, I can't manage large vertical display fixtures like the grid panels many artists use. I guess what I'm really asking for is ways to spruce up the bland, stark, white canopy itself and create more of a studio/gallery atmosphere, of that makes sense.

I stole that idea from squidoo (lol)

I imagine there are very few, if any, ideas on this page you haven't considered

is not exactly the way to win friends and influence people on DU.

You see, when you post as a reply to my post, it shows up on my home page, so I came here to see if there was a post I needed to reply to. Instead I found this, and consider it a total waste of my time. That does not endear you to me, so you've kind of already started off on the wrong foot. You want us to be kind to you, but you've already been a little unkind to me. You won't be forgotten. And not in a nice way.
