Did I mention I support single payer?...
Forum Purpose:
A place to inform, debate, discuss, learn, teach, share, strategize, and organize on promoting and getting single payer health insurance systems.
So it begs the question - is single payer/ medicare for all a priority for the party at this point?? I know that the rank & file are for it.. with the Republicans trying to dismantle "Obamacare", why is there no national push to go to a single payer system?? It's a winning campaign issue and yet here we are...

Has taken over interest. From the current news it seems the Repubs are having a hard time getting Trumpcare passed.
As a Canadian I watch One Payer, knowing how beneficial it is.

(35,900 posts)What makes it the "greatest healthcare system" in the world according to Republicans, and focus on opposing that.

(2,872 posts)would have been nice, why do the Repubs always frame the discussion?? Push for expansion and drive that narrative - collectively.. the corporate media was covering single payer and other alternatives for a change (to a certain extent) during the "repeal & replace" debacle. But now, all the racial issues have drowned out any real discussion on healthcare issues..

(35,900 posts)One major issue that sticks out in that regard is that when it comes to race and health is that it's a "war on drugs" when the face of drug use is black, but a "public health crisis" when the face of drug use is white.
So I think that when we are seeing healthcare issues being muffled, we are also seeing some of these issues on race, gender, and class being muffled.

(2,872 posts)not to downplay the "opiod epidemic", as it's been described lately.. but, I don't remember such concern for the "crack epidemic" in the 80's & early 90's.. poor people drugs have always been of little concern to the message conveyors and/or the policy makers..
I think 2018 is ripe for single payer (or the like policies) candidates to make serious inroads.. I keep coming back to this basic question, if not now - when? That is what Dems need to ask themselves, because R's will only keep trying undercut & destroy the ACA going forward..
