(12,268 posts)Thing sold out almost immediately - unlike every other Crimson-related show I've been to here.
I figure the Vai and Tool fans are jumping on this as well.
From what I've read, it sounds like Danny Carey has bought up quite a bit of Bruford's 80s kit and will be using it, and Belew is busting out all his vintage effects and guitars from the era.

(68,359 posts)It's really good. If you haven't seen it, give it a look. I think you'll like it, too.

I bought the VIP package.
They're doing material off the 3 Discipline era albums.
Saw an interview with the 4 of them recently. Fripp & Bruford fully endorse this tour, though they can't tour any more.
Vai said he will try to evoke what Robert did, but won't try to copy him, thinking it best to play the way he plays. He said Fripp thought that a great idea.
Carey said similar things about Bruford but I don't recall as many details.
Most I've ever spent for a concert ticket. It will be worth it.

(8,234 posts)I wore out Discipline, it's such a strange album and I got hooked on it. There isn't anything else like it, even from King Crimson.
I was at a Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade concert, and they broke into Thela Hun Ginjeet. What a moment!
Les gets it. Vai does too, apparently.
