McGuinn made 3 or 4 mistakes during the solo.
So, no tricks. We get what we actually see!

He was probably fairly nervous.

On the recorded early tracks he was the only one allowed to play. The rest of the guys were replaced by fancy LA studio musicians.

He had the advantage of playing 12 string, and those studio cats may not have shown up with one.
As important as 12 string electric was to their sound, they just had to let him play. And, he was good enough to pull it off.
In those days, the record companies were really focused on the recording budget, and they didn't want to pay for 12 takes to get one right. Those studio players would hit 75% on the first take & the other 25% in 2.
The whole album required 15 takes. Pretty efficient!
