Once to open for INXS, the other at a summer music festival where the Beach Boys were the headliner.
Also love the song they did with Tina Turner!

The Fixx is one of my 5 favorite bands ever.
Reach The Beach was a fantastic album.
I too, saw them live at The Vic in Chicago. I went alone and ended up sitting a table seat directly by the railing of the raised area where the dance floor ended. I was 25 feet from them all night.
Then, they announced that if you bought some of their gear you'd get a sheet actually signed by all 5 guys. If you bought the hooded sweatshirt, you could stay after the show and meet the band. You can guess what I did. Yep, I bought my wife the hooded sweatshirt with the Calm Animals album on the front!
Super cool! I got to talk guitars with Jamie, keyboards with Rupert, & hats with Cy. Yeah, hats. He had a hat making company at the time.

I bought Reach the Beach after hearing "Saved By Zero" on MTV in the early '80s. They had several hit singles from RTB. The album art was intriguing.

I enjoyed reading the story of your encounter with the band. Sounds like they were down-to-earth guys and generous with their time.
