...given Herbie Flowers just died a few days ago.
His bassline on this song is iconic.
Remember the AM version where they cut the Candy verse? Can't have "giving head" on the radio, now can we? But, "My Ding-A-Ling" was ok.

I was listening to WLS & WCFL in Chicago.
It wasn't until I heard it on WSDM (FM rock station famed for 100% female DJ staff) that I heard the unedited version. That was probably a year after I heard it on AM.

FM, though, was much less touchy. The AM version of "Who Are You" beeped out the "fuck" in the "Who the fuck are you" line. But, the FM stations didn't.
So I don't really have a guess as to where the sensitivity came from.
