For too many years, I misheard the line as:

Never really knowing it was always missionless

Had no idea what it meant, but come on--that's what he says!

Then I find out it's mesh and lace, and I'm like "Oh yeah, that makes more sense."

This song encapsulates the early 80s for me. There are also remixes that sound the same yet different enough to get a relisten. Think they're on that channel, too.

4. Wow! Another One We Covered

The 4th or 5th one today.
Our version was faithful to the original, but a little bigger & rockier. Harmonies were a little more pronounced. Our bass player took the lead because it was fairly easy to sing, and the other main singer and I needed some "time off" during the night. Still sang harmonies, though.
I really liked this song from the first time I heard it, which is why I brought it to the other guys. We probably did it, on & off, for 10 or 12 years.
