When I programmed keyboards with this soubd I actually called it cheesy organ.
That sounds more like a Vox organ than a Farfisa, but they both had that thin, reedy sound.
I had a Vox for a while, but I ran it through a guitar distortion unit, and turned down the high end to get more of that Jon Lord growl.
But, I'd find a way to use cheesy organ in at least one song per night, for nearly 25 years.
