A year later, DeShannon would be opening for the Beatles on their first American tour
Some how I think he was too good to be playing for her because with her songs most any guitarist would do. But then again he was only 16 and had to get a break somewhere .this was a good one thanks

(37,800 posts)He was still in high school, and about this time got called into the high school office for slipping grades and poor attendance. He explained he was doing session work and and making $5,000 a week, and his counselor asked him, "Why are you still here?"
I heard Ry state that absurd amount in an interview, but I believe he was exaggerating a bit, or just adjusting to today's dollar. How much did a school counselor make in 1963?
