First time I ever heard this song was during Army basic. One of our drill sergeants loved this song and made us sing it as a marching song. I suspect he was the same drill drill that started a rumor we were to be shipped direct to VN from basic because of heavy loses when we started getting to smug. You'd be surprised how that refocused our attention.
