The only jazz guitar player he liked more was Tal Farlow.
It was more like 1A & 1B for him.
So, I heard quite a bit of Wes growing up.
This song is right from Wes's playbook. Single note soloing for several passes, then the jump to his signature octaves, which he goes back at the end.

about learning restraint from the jazz guys. His drumming with Jefferson Airplane was not "rock" drumming so much as foundation, accent and accompaniment. I always admired that aspect of musicians. I recall Alvin Lee doing some recording with Scotty Moore and they talked about playing the guitar and Scotty said something to the effect of "It's about playing the right note, at the right time and holding it for just the right time. Nothing else is needed." So very true and the best jazz guys, like Wes, are masters at knowing just what, just when and for how long.

I don't like the politics of Alice Cooper but I saw an interview from 11 years ago where he discussed this idea of "restraint" and he used George Harrison as an example.
