Howard Leese developed that piece. Nancy loved it so she learned it (with a few changes).
She got so good at it they knew they had to put it somewhere on the album, so it ended up fitting as an intro to COY.
Once the album was released, they all agreed it had to be done live that way.
One more note about Nancy: she's also a very good singer. Her harmony parts are excellent.
BTW: Ann plays pretty good guitar, too. Not as good as Nancy, but pretty good.
They are both so talented! SO talented.

(24,779 posts)I'm glad I was able to see them in concert. In my humble opinion, Ann Wilson has the best female rock voice of all time.

(72,387 posts)I've never played this song, but I learned that intro because it's just so elegant.
I heard this song for the first time while driving & I did not change the station waiting out 3 more songs because I just had to know who that was.
When the DJ recapped the last 5 tunes, I found out it was Heart.
Went out the next day to buy the album.
