(20,000 posts)and was she supposed to be a singer?

(55,334 posts)Her fame came after she broke into the chart with several hits in the mid 60s, but a severe case of laryngitis and substance abuse problems affected her singing voice. By the early seventies when this video was shot, she was being celebrated for her "whiskey-soaked" bluesy voice.
Of course ymmv, but her usual style of singing didn't mesh well with this kind of conservative bubblegum pop tune.

(69,859 posts)Show was primetime on NBC.
I was a huge fan of his Pin Ups album, which had him & Twiggy on the cover.
It was a collection of his takes on a bunch of British Invasion hits.
They played some on that show.
That was his last appearance as Ziggy.
He changed his persona to Aladdin Sane right after that. A couple years later he introduced "The Thin White Duke".
Yeah, I've been a Bowie nut for decades!

(52,241 posts)with a postcard for his fan club. I just googled it and it's worth $230! 6 years ago I made a copy of the postcard and sent it to the fan club address, just to see what would happen. It came back to me, unopened.
Have you seen his performance on SNL with Klaus Nomi and Joey Arias? It was very cool.

(69,859 posts)I saw him 4 times.
My wife, also a fan starting around 1980, (she admits she was late to the party) was so jealous.
Finally, between the early 90s and around 2006, we went to 3 of his concerts.
Yeah, I'm at 7, she's only at 3, but she's cool with that. At least she got to see him live three times.

(52,241 posts)The Glass Spider Tour in the late 80s. It was very theatrical, which I loved.

(69,859 posts)Saw it outdoors at what then was called World Music Theatre.
That must have been farther back then i recalled.
We still have the booklet. It's on the shelf above my recording gear.
