Related: About this forumMagic Garden near me
Some folks have a big old Victorian house, surrounded by some intense landscaping that I can only call a magic garden. It's like 8 or 10 little landscapes tucked into the area around the house. There's a big garden out back (with fences to keep the critters out) and the folks there sell iris bulbs. IIRC, the grounds are open twice a year, once to take orders and once to fill them.
The photos are downscaled to be DU-sized.
A-MAZING. Must have taken years and years.

I dont see a lot of lawn to mow. Love it.

(14,789 posts)The whole garden is meticulously cared for, and flowers are in "just right" spots, even if their placement is/seems random compared to neat beds.
A 28mm equivalent view was perfect for this. Small spaces are like that.

(4,483 posts)Pity me. I totally have a black thumb. NOTHING will grow for me. In fact, it's like the plants all pass a secret language back and forth, saying, "ok, she bought us...let's die now!" (sigh)
But I do so love gardens, and flowers, and shrubs and trees done "just so"... so creative and such a wonderful nurturing talent to be one with Mother Nature. How beautiful and peaceful.

(14,789 posts)I grew many flowers and veggies, but since moving to the country, can grow nothing without a 7 foot fence and more.
I posted this in response to elleng's thread and comments there.

Country is not easy. Got to rely on natives/wildflowers.
I hope you get a green thumb!! With decent soil (drainage), appropriate sun and regular water, things should grow.
