Spent 5 weeks in CA Jan-Feb. Clearing out the the house and putting it up for sale. We and our partners have accepted an offer.
Once that is completed it will be the end of a 25 year partnership. Both good and bad times. When I head back to the US I normally try to spend a day at my old workplace. I retired 8 years ago this comign summer. Here are a few images from the campus.
Each one of these is a graduating class. This is the first, 1892, one member a certain Herbert Hoover.
Stained glass from Memorial Church. They have removed the wire protections since I noticed them last.

They are hard to photograph in the sun.

(15,667 posts)My husband attended Stanford.
I kid him that it's too bad he could only get into a Junior University.
Such a beautiful campus.

Very nice photos. I love closeups of architectural details and ornamentation on buildings like these.

(4,532 posts)Even students get surprised by the Junior. For others who don't know it is named after the Stanford's child. Leland Stanford Junior.

To be really correct, it would need 2 commas: "Leland Stanford, Junior, University."

(151,805 posts)My husband did all his undergraduate and graduate work there. We lived nearby and often walked around these sites.
These are beautiful photos!
I loved MemChu (the nickname for the Memorial Church). We talked briefly about getting married there.
Thanks for the memories . . .

(4,532 posts)With memories. I'm not sure all those old name contractions are as popular as they were 20 plus years ago.
