I always think us Californians have a disadvantage in the seasonal contests since we don't actually have seasons! It's just not fair! (Tongue in cheek].

(36,332 posts)On the subject of California seasons, we lived on the North Coast for 25 years. If you've been there in summer you might recognize Merry resting on warm concrete in July, lol. It was probably in the 60s that afternoon, and when the marine layer comes in the sun disappears altogether. That photo is all about textures, to me.
Looking for entries for this contest I realized how focused I've been on insect photos the last couple years. I need to get out more often!
I also realized how subjective themes like "Summer" are. I spent my summers on the North Coast building things in our backyard shop, so photos like the one below scream "Summertime!" to me, but probably not anyone else. I treasure those memories.
