We were there on opening day early. Also in the Oidewiesen, traditional area, There were fewer people as many stayed out so they could watch the end of the brewer's parade, if you like Clydesdale horses you need to see the parade, and the official taping of the first keg at noon. These are from signs for different rides and shops.
The women came out to greet me.

(3,571 posts)an Oktoberfest celebration in 2 weeks. Nothing close to what you have in Germany, but fun.
I'm entering the Stein Hoisting Contest this year. Doing to do that BEFORE I start enjoying the beer this year LOL.
As always, love the photos you share!

(4,645 posts)Oktoberfest was originally in October in Munich. But the weather is usually better in September. So the last weekend is the first weekend of October and you have two weekends prior to that. This year Sept 16. Also this year we have 2 extra days. The day of German unity is on Tuesday so instead of ending on the Sunday we get more.
Last year the weather was miserable, rainy and cold. There was one Sunny weekend day, the last day of the event..

(8,636 posts)I'll have to settle for the cheesy Germansploitation versions scattered around town. Oh well, even when beer is bad, it's still pretty good.
