As stated above, this is the Mothman, the creature that supposedly terrorized the area of Point Pleasant and supposedly appeared to signal the collapse of the Silver Bridge, which was a major disaster in Point Pleasant. The story always intrigued me as a child and I was thrilled to be able to visit the town and check out the statue.

No telling what those folks actually saw, but it makes a great yarn!
