(152,083 posts)That is the name of the stone. I'd never heard of it before I saw it on Facebook.
It was made by Rustic Gem Jewelry. They have a lot of earrings like these with stones I've never heard of either!
Glad you enjoyed.

(11,040 posts)... so I see it used pretty often by local jewelry makers. (I bought a pendant neckless once thinking it was turquoise, but my wife identified it.) Sometimes it's a mix of amazonite and smoky quartz -- I think that's only found in Colorado -- and a good specimen of that can be pricey.
(That's a true story, by the way, about needing to get a recycle bin for all the boxes after my wife got addicted to online shopping during the pandemic. One good thing: I no longer do the grocery shopping, which I hated. )

(84,314 posts)Some specimens will tempt you to think it's turquoise but it has a bit more of a sense of crystallization than turquoise does. Turquoise is far more opaque. It can often be less expensive than turquoise, also. Many specimens can just be heart-stoppingly beautiful.

I've slobbered over photos of amazonite for decades! But then, I've always been a "rock hound," and you'd have an easier time listing the rocks and minerals I HAVEN'T slobbered over than trying to list all the ones that have knocked me out! When I was seven years old, I started making little display boxes with the specimens I had collected, studied, and labeled. I'd look them up as best I could cuz Mom always made sure I had plenty of rocks 'n' minerals books. When I couldn't find or figure out what it was, I'd make something up - like this roundish, slightly flat, greenish little piece that was so glittery that it probably had a lot of mica in it, and I named it "Glitter Soap"!

(152,083 posts)I had never heard of it before, but I really like the way the stone looks.
The stone was accurate to the photos I saw. And I have a shirt that is almost an exact match!
Thanks for all the links. I will explore.

(152,083 posts)The color caught my eye too. I also really like the simple gold wire they're hanging from.
We do share a lot, don't we? I'm happy!
