I finally had my LP Deluxe refretted six years ago. I put off having it done for years because the guys I'd trust to do the job wouldn't touch a bound neck. The luthier who finally did the job not only replaced the frets but also made a new hand-carved bone nut and replaced two potentiometers. The labor and parts cost $700 and were worth every penny.

This one:
The light reflecting off both the metal frets, and the wood, in between those frets
shows significant wear from my fingers holding down the steel strings against them,
over the course of...umm , well a long period of time!
