The male is the Fritillary in the back. You can tell by the wings being slightly pointed at the tips. Female wings are rounder. They connect by joining the tail end of their abdomens together. Yes, I know. TMI.
Anyway....those two were connected for several minutes and during that time they were dive-bombed by a third Fritillary.
But they still persevered.
