And one of the three has the same markings, her mom is a tortie-point manx. The other kitten has more traditional calico markings and is also a manx. Litter of five, 3 were manx. They're all fun and sweet little monsters with claws.

This little one was born on Easter, not so little anymore but a bundle of fun. They are used to some supervised outdoor time so we had fun around the watering can when I refilled it. The torbie, she has both colored stripes (!) grey and orange along her sides and hind legs... was very interested in the drips from the spout so I left the slightly running hose in to trickle out the spout and she played with it for fifteen minutes, got soaked and loved it. They are all picky about running water so they loaded up outside even though there are three watering stations inside.

Needless to say, I love cats and since I don't have any at home, I take care of my friends' cats.

They are just getting to know me better but seeing me do the food and litterbox detail sure made me their buddy. They all came in when I requested today, we'll see how it goes next time.

Meanwhile their humans are in Denver at a Native American League basketball tournament or other. One of the sons is a player and the elder on is an official. The whole family went so somebody had to take care of the kitties. I'm next door so it's no big deal for me to go play with them and do the chores. I get a free lunch out of it later too!

Most people can deal with the food and water, but litter box detail is a scoop too far.

I really don't mind it now that N95 masks are a part of life, and I wear gloves, not such an ominous task. I buy disposable gloves by the box, I don't like touching a lot of things so I put on gloves and it isn't a "thing" so much afterward. Litterbox detail was never so doable before. And there's three of them, there's definitely a need for that chore to happen at least once a day. And they really appreciate it, probably more than the humans do!

I love how I can see all the little pointy barbs on the cat's tongue. (Zooming all the way in is even better. )

Did you use a macro lens for this? Just wondering, because the fine details are so sharp and clear.

Calliope is a very pretty girl, and I love her name.

I'm glad you zoomed in on the barbs! The barbs (papillae) are a cat's grooming comb.

The lens is a 35mm f1.8 "macro", but it's a 1:2 life-size reproduction ratio, so not a true macro, which is 1:1. Still, it works well for everything from closeups to landscapes.
