A ghost?

Look at the guy on the extreme left, there appears to be a ghost standing next to him. You can go
to the website (college library no paywall) and blow the image up about 5X. Click icon on upper
right corner then use scroll wheel to enlarge more. Photo taken 1873.

How long did it take to take a photo in the 1870s?
The exposure time for daguerreotypes was originally anywhere from five minutes to half an hour, making sitting for a portrait a painful and often unsuccessful process. Innovations in the 1840s increased the sensitivity of the photographic plates and reduced the exposure time to under a minute.
