I was feeling a bit more aggressive about my technique tonight and that self-confidence worked!

I was actually surprised at how well it turned out.

.......thousands of years ago, you can feel safe in dismissing completely anyone who, today, might be bored with your post.

It's just that sometimes I post a lot of moon photos and I am sensitive to the ebb and flow of comments and recs etc. So I try not to overdo stuff.

Tonight, I felt it was warranted.

otherwise, do not ever think there are too many. . no such thing. So just listen to us, and post as much as you like. Others are free to skip right on by, bless their unappreciative little hearts (syrupy southern drawl here)!.

I needed that this morning.

I think this might be your best yet but have said that before. It seems something's different with this one somehow - you've captured a Rembrandt-like golden glow about it.

Are you using a new lens/camera/filter setup? Perhaps a different tripod? What ever it is, I sez you're doing her right.

I'm using the same equipment that I've been using for about the last 3 years: Olympus Mark IV camera, Olympus lens 100-400mm, standard tripod, no filters.

The moon was setting, and that may account for the golden glow. The atmosphere has more color as you descend towards the horizon, and that may have been affecting my photo. Also, the percentage of the moon that was visible was more than the night before. All those things can add up!

Can somebody please tell me what a "waxing" crescent moon means? I could google it but I'd much rather have an exchange of information from an actual human being. Thank you in advance.

We had clear skies in Oregon and a great view of the moon. When I saw it I wondered if your camera was aimed at it.

I was out getting this photo between 8:30 and 9 pm last night, so if you were out looking then, well, we were in sync!

You must have an Apple computer. My windows machine doesn't allow me that privilege once the photo is posted. I can zoom in on it before posting, and believe me, I do! It's an invaluable tool.

I was very happy with those craters! The slightly larger moon is good at showing them.

You must be kidding! I'm someone who goes outside my condo complex after dark and stand in my driveway just to see the moon and stars (if possible). I'm sure my neighbors think I'm nutty, but I've never much cared what others think.

Beautiful pic.

Particularly to someone like me who has never been able to see the sky as others see it - combination of myopia and astigmatism, which are only correctable at distances measurable in feet.

It reminded me of the jingle

I'm back! I sat out for awhile after the first T45 election and the DU disaster that followed. But I'm back now and hope to post more regularly. I'm glad to see you're still here spreading good cheer everywhere you go!
