(24,520 posts)I got the P1000, having a minor in astronomy, and it was fun to watch her skill level increase.
The Orion photo was ISO 800, f/5, 380mm at 1 second exposure meaning a steady hand or a handrail. I dont know if she had a tripod, and being frail, a lot of pix were shot through her window.
I dont think she was into Settings. Auto does a great job on Nikons.
Liked her taste in food as well.
We all have so many good things in common. She also made fabulous use of her site, with so many things to see.
We should all relate as warmly and closely to the world as she did.

(16,802 posts)She came off as a really sweet lady even though her posts were fairly laconic.
She used to post a pics of a lake by her house I remember. Very unexpected. My mom was the same..didnt like to talk about illness or much at all.

I remember when Ellen first moved in to her little river cottage that was a rental on the back of a much larger estate. It was a fabulous location for watching nature and getting sunset shots over the river. Her interests were far and wide, from the view outside her window, to music, movies, and travel.
I was shocked to learn of her death. Just shocked.
