We have been fortunate to have visited a couple of times. If life had allowed me to I would have been very happy to have lived in northern France.

Stunning and breathtaking beauty...

... is over a thousand years old! Its construction spanned centuries, and it still stands, solid as the rock it's perched on. Amazing.
Just thinking about the labor involved boggles the mind. And they did it with NO heavy equipment, save wooden wagons and cranes.

About 40 kilometers away. That's a feat in and of itself.

... so they didn't drown bringing the rocks across the mudflats! Now that's devotion!

If, as the story goes, St. Michel burned a hole in your head to get your attention....

... probably didn't make a lot of friends that way.

Put this place somewhere near the top. Architecturally, it is stunning, especially on a sunny day! But even on a cloudy day, it is eye popping to see it and imagine what had to be done to build it. Inside, it is taking a giant leap backward in time. And watching the tide move to cover over the sand and dirt boggles your mind.

So make a note to yourself that this is a really cool place to see and experience!

Lots of interior of the castle was used as well.... Go watch both seasons...Netflix, AMC Plus....

Prisoners walked in large wheels like hamsters wheels to bring supplies up.

The hamsters got more food than the other prisoners.
