Saturday's Horses - Pete & Maddie & The Neighbor Horse (Who, it turns out, is female.) + Around The Farm.

She is The New Girl.

She's a friendly mare.

She has lots of room to roam around.

But if they're around she can keep her neighbors in sight.

A typical day for Maddie and Pete might start out
in their small pasture, around 6:30 a.m. or so.

A little after 8 a.m. they could be down in the big pasture,
the day turning out nice.

Less than an hour later, serious grazing,

continuing into mid-day.

After which we lose track until Laurie calls them in for dinner.

They know the routine, as Pete turns toward his grain bucket.

And whereas Maddie and Pete are only too ready to come in, their
neighbor may miss them. NG keeps looking over the fence
and whinnying occasionally.

But it's okay, New Girl, because tonight's sunset brings promise
of a new day tomorrow.

Around The Farm ~
A couple weeks ago I posted a photo of a wild turkey. It had run past the
horses' corral, then took to the air. I took two grab shots and one came out.
Final edit.

Several Killdeer live around the farm. They're fun to watch.

One pretended to have an injured wing to lure me away from her nest.

Laurie moved some lumber today.

After we unloaded, she drove to her next job -

- which was to pull up two fence posts, letting the
tractor do the lifting.

She's been busy in the barn, putting up walls in the tack room.

This ground used to be deep trenches, dirt and rocks
piled alongside on the surface. Laurie's covered it all up.

________________________________________________________________
Elsewhere around the farm Shadow rolled in horse poop.

She seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself
and shook it off. Vigorously.

Must be fun to be a dog.

Thanks for dropping in. We'll see you next week 'round the farm.

I never would have guessed a tractor could pull fence posts.

Shadow... guessing she had a quick bath after her roll.

Ty for sharing with us.

Enjoy!

She named it "Babe" after Paul Bunyan's Babe the Blue Ox.

Shadow...nope, no bath. But I didn't pet her anytime soon.

Such serenity, a reminder that there is still peace and beauty out there. Please give Shadow a pat for me, but be careful to avoid the horse poop. Thanks so much for sharing these with us. Much appreciated.

we used the front bucket to push T posts into the ground, had to make sure they was aimed properly
or dad would make us redo them.

It took me back to my teenage, more carefree, horse centered days in the Adirondacks.
