I nominate him as the most original, yet real to life character on TV.

(2,011 posts)On our block in suburban, single family home neighborhood we have an unofficial neighborhood watch. Most of the neighbors know and keep an eye out for each other. Since I'm retired and home a lot, and my laptop is next to a window on the street side of the house I find myself looking out when I see someone walking by. I confessed to our next door friends that I feel like the Gladys Kravitz of the block, lol. She was a fun character.

(16,500 posts)if one of my neighbors is checking on something we'll say "Gladys Kravitz here. Did you mean to leave your garage door open today?" If someone goes out of town, they send a text asking for Gladys to keep an eye on things.

(29,797 posts)Or the kid on Dick Van Dyke or the worst...Buffy and Jody. If you dont know Buffy and Jody (and I assume you do) then you are lucky.

(4,613 posts)was the kid on Hazel. Killed in a car accident at 21. And Larry Matthews was Richie on Dick Van Dyke..I would agree he was little more than a piece of furniture.
But Johnny Whitaker and Anissa Jones (Buffy and Jody) were a special breed. Whitaker continued to have a pretty successful career as a child actor. Jones didn't fare so well.

(16,500 posts)the kids have no idea who I am talking about. But he's a charmer and always managed to find a way to the dinner table when they were teens.
