Hanging like an emerald jewel off the western edge of Europe, Ireland has always been a place apart the last scrap of rock before the void of the Atlantic Ocean. Never conquered by the Romans, Ireland was, for a millennia, the very edge of the known world for Europeans and the last stop for countless animals before they disappeared into the mists of the western ocean on their ceaseless journeys of life.
As never captured before, this special features Irelands west coast and wildlife wonders. Catch a glimpse of the Skellig Rocks stormbound ocean pinnacles settled by early Christian monks 1,500 years ago and the breaching Humpback whales newly arrived off the islands southern shores. Witness Golden Eagles fighting the gales of the northern highlands and the majestic Salmon returning from the Arctic to face upriver into some of the purest freshwaters in Europe. Explore the clash of Irelands last-surviving Red Deer stags echoing through the islands highest mountains.
Hosted by wildlife cameraman Colin Stafford-Johnson, this two-hour show follows him on a journey along Irelands Atlantic coast, from the southwest corner of the island to the tip of Northern Ireland. Along the way, Stafford-Johnson gives intimate insights into the wild animals and wild places he discovers along the way.

(20,546 posts)sadly a dead one in former times. It then showed a nest of fledglings. IIRC, the eagles were mated in Scotland and transferred to Ireland in order to re-establish their presence.
I'm considering getting a subscription somehow. Not a pricey one tho. Been going thru mucho grande $$ lately.
My pupper daughter has been bringing a goofy looking Santa candy cane toy to bed since Christmas. It's all wet and she keeps sticking me in the face with it. Whatta girl! 😁 🎅

(14,595 posts)so we can get those channels via WIFI, perhaps through Roku or some other gadget. I already contribute to PBS and I see that KET requires minimum $60 annual donation to get the Passport programming. No problem there. And, I too need to recover from holiday spending so that will need to wait.
Have a safe and happy new year! Can't wait 'till the day comes when I no longer see Drumph's picture on the front page of DU and my favorite news sites every single day.

(20,546 posts)That's next on the agenda. Got a wifi jetpack from our cell provider but unlimited $$ is ridiculous. So is the 24 gig service we have currently with cell service.
I used to be a PBS contributor but then drifted off. Gotta watch the funds presently.
'You-know-who' has made me increasingly physically ill--that sloshy word speak and disturbing whole physical picture.
Enjoy the balance of Christmastide and a healthy happy new year be yours!
