Possibly the only American sitcom to routinely pull off true farce.

I don't know who she is but they got the perfect actress to
play against Archie Bunker.

whole season. There’re in a restaurant on their first date, she’s hopped up on cold medicine. He asked how she’s enjoying her red snapper, she says “Oh fine, do you like your penis?”.

I fell off the couch, and was a die-hard fan of the Melissa McCarthy, and that show ever after. (I never saw Gilmore Girls, so this was my first exposure to Melissa).

This clip is great - but the "pre-argument" with the wife was better!

Him: Why do I have to do this?
Her: It could save your life!
Him: What kind of person would ever chose to do this as a profession?
Her: What do you mean?
Him: Simple - when you work at McDonalds - you come home smelling like french fries!.......................

And then - it's Lew Rawls!
