this betty white scene from golden girls still never fails to make me happy, 30+ years later. betty improvised most of the story and bea and rue couldn’t help but lose their composure and slip out of character. RIP to a comedy queen.

My Dad, who was active in community theater from his high school through much of our childhood, explained the importance of timing. He would often comment on a really (unexpected to us kids) dramatic performance of a comedic actor, whereas often an otherwise good dramatic actor fell flat in a comedic role. Comedy needs perfect timing to pull it off. Every time I have seen The Lost Valentine on TV - that scene where she meets the casket containing the body of her dead husband home after all those years, the tears just stream down my face. It feels so real to me. When she plays Rose she is Rose so she plays it straight. She is so sincere and real while everyone around her is breaking up.

A real treasure. All our Golden Girls are now gone but no one can forget them. I still watch..every so often... especially on a day I want to escape the madness.

I just watched this again. So funny. A jewel..

Has tv on all day, and if on---we keep it on Golden Girls. That show is a shining star. The talent, the writing, and the story lines! I'm so glad I've gotten to watch it for about 4 years, weekly.
(Spent so much of my adult life busy, i missed a lot of tv--but caught up on this gem) Betty inspired me to watch Hot in Cleveland too.
The queen! She will be so missed.
