'Sesame Street' episode allegedly removed for being too frightening is posted to social media

The episode stars Margaret Hamilton, who revives her role as the Wicked Witch of the West from “The Wizard of Oz.”

The plot also takes from “The Wizard of Oz,” but rather than seek the return of a pair of ruby slippers, Hamilton seeks a “stolen broom stick.”

The opening had me googling "Reeves Teletape Studios" which led me to "Eyes of a Generation- Television's Living History."

Some wonderful images and stories there, including an x-rated Howdy Doody story.

This was waaaay back in the early 60's when the Wizard Of Oz was shown annually on network television. We had a black and white set which IMO made the wicked witch ever scarier. Between her and the tornado scene I was up all night.

Thanks for posting. I was too old for Sesame Street when it aired originally. This is fun to watch.
