This is just off the top of my head.
- Wheel of Fortune / Jeopardy: There are commercials for these shows. Wheel of Fortune has been unchanged for 40 years, including the time that it broadcasts. If you watch it, you have always watched it and already know this information. If you don't watch it, you are unlikely to start.
- McDonald's: The menu hasn't changed significantly in almost a hundred years. There is one within walking distance of every home in America. No commercials are required.
- Commercial for next episode: Shows will often advertise the next episode at the end. If the show was good and/or the cliffhanger was effective, you probably already have it on your DVR. This prodding is unnecessary. Sometimes there will be a "coming up" mini-commercial before the real commercials for the next segment. If your viewers need to be convinced to stick around in this way, your show probably sucks.
- Repeated airings: Why run the same commercial twice during the same show? If the audience wasn't convinced the first time, they are just going to be annoyed the second time around. Sometimes a commercial is even run twice during the same break!

Wound up in hospital for a week from overmedicating and turning herself into Zombie. She still is very week and home where we cant stop her from doing it again.

(8,774 posts)Convincing somebody they have an ailment that they don't really have is not good. There can be mental damage as well as physical damage.

(35,658 posts)Or for that matter, any hospital. CC is a sponsor of Cleveland Guardians games, which I watch a lot. Akron Childrens advertises a lot, too.
Id rather the hospitals cut millions of dollars worth of ads and make my bill smaller.
Like, if you need surgery where else are you going to go but a hospital? And its not like you really have a choice because you have to go where your insurance tells you to.
Same with our local mall. Theres only one. Its not like theres any competition. Yet they advertise it all the time on TV.

(25,164 posts)Any prescription drug with side effects (for that matter, any prescription drug, period--tell the doctors, FFS!)
Fuck "Doug" and his stupid f*cking bird, f**k big Pharma, f**k ambulance-chasing lawyers who think they're entitled to my compensation for drinking LeJeune water.
That covers pretty much all of 'em.
