That was not Alec Baldwin in the cold open LetMyPeopleVote Nov 2023 #2
That is correct; but Baldwin appeared in a cameo late in the show (not as Trump) hlthe2b Nov 2023 #3
Lately, I have only been watching the Cold Open, the host intro and Weekend Update LetMyPeopleVote Nov 2023 #5
Baldwin looked good in the cameo (not as Trump). You may not agree, but I think Baldwin hlthe2b Nov 2023 #4
Almost scanned past him. That was the absolute lamest episode of SNL I've seen in years. Gidney N Cloyd Nov 2023 #6

SNL has been using James Austin Johnson to do TFG for the last two or three seasons

It was essentially a "blink and you'd miss it" cameo, though he appeared onstage with the cast as the credits rolled.

fully deserved to be held civilly liable (as he was) but in no way criminally responsible. It was one of the saddest deadly episodes to ever occur on a set, for sure and the loss of that young director is beyond tragic.

That said, if Lorne Michaels is giving a subtle nod to give Baldwin a chance with that little cameo, I find no scandal in that, (if that is being suggested). RWers will be outraged and probably also a few non-political viewers, though. But the former only underscores how political the initial prosecutor's decision to try him criminally (the case later dropped for contradictory evidence)-- and now to refile charges. YMMV

The cold open and Weekend Update weren't too bad but I hovered my index finger over the FF button for pretty much all the rest.
