As the show began, my 30-something daughter remarked "Not even sure why we need to watch this when we could just turn on the news."
I read the original book more than 40 years ago, back in high school when it seemed impossible that our future would resemble anything like the nightmare fuel in those pages. Margaret Atwood has said that nothing she wrote was fabricated and all of it came from somewhere in the world at some point in history.
The Testaments book has sat in my to-do stack on the nightstand but there's just too much competition for me to have gotten to it yet. (I think my GoodReads account has me with 9 books on the "currently reading" shelf, although I'm only truly working on three with any regularity.)
No spoilers, but my kid has an UNCANNY ability to suss out the motivation/hidden aspects of characters so quickly and she didn't disappoint last night.
There were some surprises and interesting twists. Solid performances, though I did find myself missing so many familiar characters that we got to know in the THT universe.
All in all, we enjoyed the first three episodes immensely. Love to hear others' take!
