"Arkansas You Run Deep In Me" was adopted as the state song in Arkansas' sesquicentennial year of 1986. The same year, AETN started showing this video set to the song as its nightly sign-off. It's bound to stir a few emotions in Arkansans, I think. It certainly does for me, especially when I see familiar scenes in it such as Pea Ridge National Military Park, the University of Arkansas, and the Ozark Mountains.

(27,247 posts)I was assisting a University of Arkansas graduate student from Illinois with her research project. We were talking about this becoming the new state song, and she asked what the old song was, so I sang a few lines for her.
"Where the roses are in bloom and the sweet magnolia too
Where the jasmine is white and the fields are violet blue..."
"Where the JAZZMAN is WHITE!?!" she exclaimed. "Aren't there any *black* jazzmen in Arkansas?"

I don't remember hearing it anywhere else, though.
