DONT YOU hate it when your kids are playing in the yard and are suddenly set upon by 30 50 feral hogs?
We cant say this has ever happened to us but it seems to be a serious problem in certain parts of rural America.
William McNabb replied to a tweet which called for gun control asking how he could protect his children from the 30-50 feral hogs which run into the yard within minutes of them beginning to play, without the use of an assault weapon.

(13,931 posts)from the documentaries and videos and new stories I have seen, feral pigs are skiddish and shy. They come out at night and will destroy a backyard or a chunk of field crops. There pig hunting and trapping companies out there that will take care of his feral hogs.
The whole I need an AR to get rid of the pigs is bee ess. As soon as he shoots one the rest will run. A regular bolt action rifle will take care of his needs. It will just take him time to whittle down the numbers if they come back at all after one or two are killed.

(30,395 posts)We haven't seen them in our neighborhood, but these hogs can weigh up to 1500 pounds and when they're in a pack, they eat everything in their path. They are so huge, they are hard to stop. I can see a benefit to an assault rifle in that instance and El Dorado is in the swamp land and they would be prevalent there.
Yikes, I hadn't thought about the hogs and I recently heard about someone seeing one a couple ridges over.

(2,942 posts)I live out in west Texas. On my way into town I saw about 30 wild pigs cross the road yesterday.
Yes they are vile creatures that will tear your ass up if you aren't careful.
But you do not need a f-ing AR-15 to protect yourself. I use an old bolt action rifle, and it works wonders. Fire a shot at one, and they split.

Course, then again the Dutch are notifying of a possible Biological Event at a nature preserve: http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/database/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=BH-20190807-69081-NLD
"As many as 70 wild boar have died of an unexplained illness at a nature reserve in the eastern Netherlands. Only about 20 boar die of the disease in the Hoge Veluwe reserve annually, but the figure so far this year is more than triple that, the Omroep Gelderland public broadcaster reports. Erik Koffeman of the Gelderland Wildlife Management Department says the death rate is "unprecedented - experts have never seen anything like this before". continued [snip]
