Increase in groups collecting ballot signatures ahead of Arkansas deadline

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Groups looking to get initiatives on the November ballot have just a few days left to collect signatures. Each group has until Friday at 5 p.m. to turn in more than 90,000 signatures.

Arkansans for Limited Government is gathering signatures for an amendment that would allow abortions up to 18 weeks of pregnancy. The group’s director of strategy said they need 8,000 more signatures by Friday to reach their deadline.

“Definitely feeling a new sense of urgency from a lot of folks. We are looking to meet those people where they are. So if anyone needs to sign, we’re trying to help connect them with a volunteer or an event so that they can make their voices heard,” said Rebecca Bobrow.

Bobrow said she expects the group will meet the deadline.
